What We Do

Welcome to Blackwood Estate Community Association (BECA)

Our charity was founded in June 2019, by a group of eight Blackwood residents who want to improve and conserve our natural environment. We believe that by working together we can all achieve genuine, positive and local change. All our trustees are volunteers, giving as much time as they can to our work.

Our primary objectives are to directly benefit our local villages of Blackwood, Kirkmuirhill and Boghead by:

  • increasing public access to Blackwood Estate (particularly educational access for our local primary schools and community groups)

  • supporting those in hardship and need

  • building strong community cohesion through development of more opportunities for activities, recreation and education

  • safeguarding an environmentally and historically significant ancient woodland, enhancing its biodiversity and mitigating climate change.

Please join us (membership is free), get actively involved and support our work. Together we can design and deliver local projects which matter to you and make a difference to where you live.
